Raiders of the Lost Ark

I did my research on the opening scene of Raiders of the Lost Ark. The cameras in this scene are well done and really add to the atmosphere of being in a very dense jungle. As the characters move through the environment, leaves, branches, vines and other fauna move in front of the camera, adding depth to the scene. The camera movement is very smooth leading to the feeling that the characters probably aren't where they should be... as in if they get caught, something bad will probably happen.

3 Good Story Locations :D

I feel like any battle zone would be a very good location for a story because of all the possibility for loss, sorrow, companionship, and possibly even love. There are alot of extremely potent emotions that occur in a war zone and i feel like that would make for good story telling.

I feel like any big city would be a good location for a story since so much can happen in one. And since we are allowed to chose fictional locations, I chose Coruscant, an entire planet that has become one city, and the capital planet in the Star Wars universe. Coruscant is so massive that i feel that it is believable that any story could fit there in some way.

My third location is a mental facility because there are a lot of options for stories there. It could be a story that ends up just being a patients nightmare, it could be about abuse in the facilities. It could also be a good story location for after it is shut down, perhaps a ghost story, or urban exploration story.

Summarizing Scene

This is what the main setting and scene of my story will most likely look like. It has Don just failing to create a fire and feeling defeated in it, and it has the beach and city in the background which is the punch line.

Dorothy Crook

Dorothy "Crook" has a problem. The problem is she is addicting to pirating stuff. By stuff I mean anything and everything she can get her mouse on. From movies, to TV shows, eBooks, video games, software, comics, and most of all, Music. She even tried to pirate a car once. It was a scam. You can't download a car. The main issue with this lifestyle, besides the potential of getting caught, is that her boyfriend is a musician who just got signed... He's also the only one who doesn't know about Dorothy's little problem. And since she hates paying for music, she pirated his new album without him knowing. She wants to let him know about her problem but she's too scared to tell him because she thinks he will break up with her for pirating his music. The way she wants to get over this problem is that she's now attending sessions(in secret at this point, but in the future she will let him know) called DPA (Digital Pirates Anonymous) where everyone goes by their screen name, her's is P1R@T3G1RL77.

Character Design HW1.5: Amazing characters from fiction

1. Ender Wiggin
Ender Wiggin is the main character from the book Ender's Game written by Orson Scott Card. In this book Ender is a young boy who has been trained for years in military tactics to become the earth's savior against an alien race known as the Buggers, who had ravaged earth's fleet many years before. At Battle School, an orbiting satellite where boys are trained, Ender learned how to command groups of peers in order to beat other teams, known as Armies. He excelled and was watched closely by the higher ups in the military before being sent to Command School way earlier than expected. He was trained there using simulations in order to learn how to command and control space fleets. Eventually he comes to his final and seemingly impossible test and somehow, to the surprise and relief of his commanders, completes it. It isn't until after he sees everyone cheering and crying that he realized that the simulation was real, and he had just eliminated an entire civilization and race of beings. Overcome with grief and remorse(for he had understood the buggers completely) he secluded himself in his room for many days. After he came out he was changed, and later on in the series he writes a book about why killing the buggers was bad and an evil thing to do, completely villainizing himself in the process.

2. Eragon
Eragon is the main character of the Inheritance Saga by Christopher Paolini. Eragon plays a young man who by some twist of fate discovers a dragon egg. This is unfortunate because Eragon would have been content without all the glory and attention brought to him by becoming a dragon rider. Through that unfortunate or fortunate twist of fate Eragon becomes the only hope to free a land that is ruled by the iron clutch of a (mostly) immortal mad king. I find him inspiring because even though he has all this power and responsibility, he has very tough moral struggles and retains his humanity in the process.

3. Batman
Batman is my final inspiring character from fiction. I find him so inspiring because he fights for what is right, no matter what. He could have just laid back and sat on his billions but instead of that, he actually uses his money to help the city he lives in. He relies on a sharp intelligence and incredible physical fitness in order to subdue his foes. I like that he relies on his own, human, strength and wits.
